Aerosciences and Engineering Analysis
Kratos provides expertise in the analysis and performance evaluation of aircraft, missiles, and rotorcraft. Kratos has strong capabilities in computational aerodynamics, using computer simulations as a “virtual wind tunnel” to analyze a wide range of flight configurations, including missiles, aircraft, helicopters, and UAS. Various tools, ranging from engineering-level empirical approaches to high-end computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods requiring high-performance computers, are applied to aerodynamic configurations to analyze performance or to identify areas in the proposed flight envelope that may cause performance issues. Kratos has developed advanced capabilities in aero-acoustics, aero-optics, and aero-thermal heating analysis, supporting customers as diverse as the Missile Defense Agency, the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center, the Army Space and Missile Defense Command, the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), and the Missile and Space Intelligence Center.
